3 ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: MCPA 500-750 g/L.

Rates quoted in HerbiGuide are for the 500 g/L formulations. Multiply rates by 0.66 if using 750 g/L products.

4 CHEMICAL GROUP: I.

Compatibility:

Trace elements

Zinc sulphate and copper sulphate are antagonistic with MCPA amine. This is caused by ionic reactions and results in a significant loss of efficacy. Manganese sulphate and calcium carbonate (lime) have lesser effects.

Water Quality:

Hard water - There may be a slight loss of activity due to ionic bonding in very hard water.

Colloids - Some loss of activity as the amount of clay in the water increases. If it is difficult to see a coin on the bottom of a 10 litre bucket full of water then the water should be cleared or an alternate source found.

pH -Acidic water is usually OK. Highly alkaline water may cause loss of efficacy.

4. Poison Schedule : 5

8. Dangerous Goods Class : 6.1(b), Packaging group III.

9. Shelf Life : 60 months (5 years).

(When stored under ideal conditions- refer Page 4)

10. Mixtures Compatibility :

Ally (metsulfuron-methyl) Glean (chlorsulfuron)

Banvel (dicamba) Igran (terbutryn)

Bromicide (bromoxynil) Tordon® (picloram)

Flowable diuron Tribunil (methabenzthiazuron)

Do NOT mix with organophosphate insecticides, may result in reduced insecticide effectiveness.

Trace element fertilisers are not compatible.

11. Registered Crop(s) : Wheat, Barley, Oats, Triticale, Commercial Rye, Pastures, and Linseed.

12. Effect of Soil Texture on Herbicide : Not applicable.

13. Effect of Soil pH on Herbicide : Not applicable.

14. Effect of Soil Organic Matter on Herbicide : Not applicable.

15. Mode of Action : Foliar translocation, some root absorption, little contact. Post-emergent.

16. Application Timing : Cereals - Spray through tillering stage after the plants have 5 leaves and before they commence jointing. Linseed - 10 - 20 cm high. Do NOT apply after the buds appear. Pasture - Mature grasses.

17. Rate Variations : 700 mL to 2.1 L/ha.

18. Rates Selection : Lower rate according to weed species and stage. Higher rate according to weed species and stage.

19. Crop Damage (Crop Tolerance) : Rate variations 700 mL 2-3 leaf, 2.0 L fully tillered.

20. Effect on Crop : Crop effects only noticeable if applied at incorrect growth stage and/or excessive rates.

21a. Effect on Clover Species : Trials done by Nufarm show that most sub clover cultivars are minimally damaged at 700 mL/ha, higher rates increase the amount of damage. Persian clover cv Shaftal - moderate tolerance with variable effects. Young seedlings are more prone to damage than older more hardened

seedlings.

Red clover - relatively tolerant, with the amine formulation causing more damage than the salt, especially where higher rates are applied.

Serradella - even with limited trial information, it has been shown to be very sensitive with moderate to heavy damage and obvious leaf and stem damage evident.

21b. Effect on Medics : Barrel medic - variable effects with unacceptable damage being recorded in trials with significant yield reduction even at relatively low rates (300 mL/ha). Seed yields have been reduced. Paraggio appears more susceptible than Sephi to a growth check.

21c. Effect on Lucerne : Can cause severe damage and death to seedling and established plants. Death is common even at low rates of herbicide and even if leaf growth is at a minimum when sprayed. Cutting prior to spraying can reduce damage, but damage is often severe with plant death common. Both the amine and salt formulations can cause severe loss.

22. Soil Moisture at Application :

DRY - Weed growth may not be sufficiently vigorous thereby reducing translocation.

MOIST - Ideal.

WATERLOGGED - Weed growth may not be sufficiently vigorous thereby reducing translocation.

23. Frost Effects : Preceding, during and after application weed growth will be retarded and herbicide translocation reduced.

24. Frost Free Days Required After Application : 2 - 3 days.

25. Effect of Application Water Quality on Herbicide :

Saline Water - Generally no effect.

Soil Colloids - Generally no effect.

26. Recommended Water Volume : 30 - 120 L/ha boom, 170 L/ha for Linseed 10 - 90 L/ha aircraft.

27. Nozzle Type : Flat fan.

28. Recommended Nozzle Pressure : 150 - 300 kPa (21.75 - 43.5 psi).

31. Other Additives : No because of risk of crop phytotoxicity.

32. Rain Fastness : 3 hours.

33. Time Interval Before Effect is Noticed : 7 - 10 days.

34. Plant Symptoms : Distortion, twisting, necrosis and death.

35. Effect of Herbicide/Disease Interaction on Crop : None.

36. Withholding Period : 7 days.

37. Plant-Back Period : Wheat, Barley - 3 days moist soil; - 7 days dry soil

Pasture - 7 days moist soil; - 10 days dry soil.

38. Spray Tank Clean-Up : Nufarm tank and equipment cleaner.

39. Other Comments : Readily leached, longer residual life in dry soils. MCPA is more selective than 2,4-D at equal rates on cereals and legumes. Keep livestock from treated areas for at least 2 weeks if poisonous weeds (eg variegated thistle, cape-tulip) are present.
