8. GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

An agricultural insecticide for caterpillar control in cotton and pulses.

9. APPLICATION METHODS AND TIPS:

Best results on brown eggs and newly hatched larvae. Ensure thorough coverage.

Best results when temperature is less than 24C and relative humidity is greater than 65%.

Soft on lacewings, ladybirds and bugs but may reduce parasitoid wasps, ants, beetles and tachinid flies. Dangerous to bees.

11. EQUIPMENT:

Ground (water): 50-100 L water/ha with hydraulic nozzles to produce a target VMD of 150-250 microns.

Aerial (water): 30 L water/ha with hydraulic nozzles to produce a target droplet size range of 150-250 microns.

Tracer II only - Aerial (ULV): 5 L oil/ha minimum using Micronair AU5000 or similar with blades set to produce 100 micron droplets.

Under condition of high temperature and low humidity adjust spray volume and droplet size upwards.

Triple rinse with water plus wetting agent.

Use clean water with a pH of 5-9.

Do not spray when the temperature exceeds 28°C or when relative humidity is less than 40%. Best results are achieved when the temperature is below 25°C and the relative humidity is greater than 65%.

Aerial application (ULV):

A group 5A, spinosyn insecticide that alters the function of nicotinic and GABA-gated ion channels.

Acts by contact and ingestion.

Produced by naturally occuring bacteria.

Larvae stop feeding soon after spraying but may take up to 3 days to die.

21. PESTICIDE RESISTANCE:

Some species may be resistant or develop resistance with continued application. Rotate with products from alternative groups.

Use according to the Insecticide Resistance Management Strategy for cotton. Do not apply more than 3 applications to any cotton crop in one season. Do not apply more than twice to chickpeas, pulses, sorghum and soybeans. Product can be applied either twice to the crop during flowering or once up to 14 days before harvest.

Soil and Groundwater: The breakdown of spinosad in soils is largely dependent on photolysis. The photolysis

half-life in soil is 8 - 9 days. It will degrade faster in soils with higher moisture content and higher temperature.

Half-life estimates for spinosad in soil under aerobic conditions are from 9 -17days. Spinosad is stable to heat

but will break down in ultraviolet light. No information was found for the other components.

Surface Water: Spinosad is stable to hydrolysis at acid and neutral pHs in the absence of UV light. At high pH

( = 9) the half-life in water is approximately 200 days. However in the presence of light, spinosad hydrolyses in

water rapidly (half-life < 1day). No information was found for the other components.

Vegetation: Spinosad is not taken up significantly by plants at the roots and on foliage. No information was

found for the other components.
