8. GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

An agricultural insecticide for cotton, fruit and vegetables. It may affect predatory mites in IPM areas. It is a translocated in phloem and xylem and moves up and down the plant. It is used mainly for sucking insects and has some residual action.

9. APPLICATION METHODS AND TIPS:

Best results in fine weather on young insects.
Apply soon after mixing.
Ensure thorough coverage.
Downwind no spray zones of 10-160 m apply.

10. ADJUVANTS, WETTERS, OILS:

Spray oil. Hasten is recommended on label. May be incompatible with some non ionic, trisiloxane ethoxylate wetting agents.

20. MODE OF ACTION:

Group 23 Insecticide. Tetramic acid or cyclic ketoenole group. Translocated. Interferes with lipid synthesis.
Insect death normally occurs 2-10 dyas after application.

Some species may be resistant or develop resistance with continued application. Rotate with products from alternative groups.

Acute dermal LD50 - >4000 mg/kg (rabbit).
Skin - May cause sensitisation.
Eye - Irritating.
Vapour inhalation - May be harmful. LC50 - >3.013 mg/L air (rat).
Chronic oral toxicity NOEL - ppm for two years.
The thyroid, thymus and brain have been identified as target organs in dogs for spirotetramat. Target organs in rats were kidney, liver, lung and testes.
Spirotetramat is a Category 3 substance toxic for reproduction. Studies in the rat demonstrated increased incidences of skeletal malformation and skeletal deviations.
Spirotetramat is not genotoxic or carcinogenic.
Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI) -

23. TOXICITY SYMPTOMS:

Irritation of eyes. No other symptoms.

24. FIRST AID:

If SWALLOWED - Wash out mouth with water. Do NOT induce vomiting. Keep patient at rest and seek medical
advice if symptoms develop.
If in EYES - Irrigate for 15 minutes with plenty of water.
If on SKIN - Rinse with plenty of water, remove contaminated clothing, wash with soap and water.
If INHALED - Remove patient to fresh air.
If patient has symptoms or is concerned contact a doctor immediately.
Advice to doctor - Treat symptomatically. No specific antidote.
